First Time Ordering Tyres Online? Here’s What to Expect at the Fitter

Buying tyres online can feel unfamiliar at first, especially if you’re used to visiting a local workshop, choosing tyres in person, and organising everything on the spot. With Tyre Shop Online, the process is straightforward. You can shop from home, choose a local fitter at checkout, and we organise an all-inclusive service where your tyres are delivered directly to your selected partner fitter for professional installation. In this guide, we’ll walk you through what happens from checkout to fitting day, so you know exactly what to expect at every step.

At a glance: How buying tyres online works

  1. Choose your tyres online and complete checkout.
  2. Select a local fitter during checkout (fitting cost is included in your total).
  3. Your tyres are dispatched and delivered to your chosen fitter.
  4. Book your fitting appointment (the fitter will contact you, or you can call them using the details we email you).
  5. Get your tyres fitted; fitting, balancing, and tyre disposal are included in the price you paid online.

Step 1: What Happens After You Order Tyres Online?

Once you place your order, your tyres are dispatched and delivered directly to your nominated local fitter.

  • We notify your fitter when your tyres are dispatched.
  • You receive the fitter’s contact details by email so you can arrange a suitable fitting time.
  • Delivery timeframes: Delivery typically takes 3 to 5 working days within New Zealand. In some cases (for example, if stock needs to be transferred between islands), delivery can take up to 7 working days.

After your tyres arrive, the fitter will be ready to book you in and arrange a booking time with you. If you have not received tracking information within a 3 working days of placing your order, please contact our team at sales@tyreshoponline.co.nz.

Step 2: How Do You Book and Prepare for Your Fitting Appointment?

Once your tyres are on the way, your selected fitter will usually contact you to arrange a time. If you have not heard from them within a couple of days of delivery, it’s a good idea to give the fitter a quick call. Workshops can be busy, and they have just not actioned your notification.

There is no paperwork to bring on the day; all you need is your name and phone number, as the fitter already has the order details. The process is much like booking a standard car service, except your tyres are already chosen, paid for, and waiting there for you.

Step 3: What Should You Expect at the Fitter on the Day?

When you arrive at the fitter, plan to arrive 5–10 minutes early to allow for the check-in process. After this, your vehicle will be taken into the workshop, your old tyres will then be removed and replaced with the new tyres, which will be fitted and balanced.

When you buy tyres from Tyre Shop Online, balancing and tyre disposal are also included in the price you paid online, so there’s nothing extra to organise on the day. The full process usually takes between 45–90 minutes, depending on the vehicle and how busy the fitter is at the time.
